Elizabethton City Council moves forward with temporary extension of campground stay

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Elizabethton City Council approved an amendment to an ordinance on first reading to temporarily extend the maximum stay at campgrounds from 30 days to 180 days. The change is intended to assist campground residents displaced by Hurricane Helene.

Some displaced residents live at East Tennessee RV Park within the Elizabethton City limits.

Co-owner Preston Whitehead said he is happy with the decision to extend the length of stay. However, he would like the decision to be permanent or for there not to be an ordinance limiting campground stay…
