Teen charged after laser strike on BNA flight, Metro helicopter

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An 18-year-old was charged Thursday with shooting a laser at an airplane at the Nashville International Airport (BNA) and a Metro aviation unit helicopter.

Metro police reported a pilot at BNA advised the control tower a laser was shined at their aircraft. Investigators determined the source of the strikes in the Neelys Bend neighborhood of Madison around 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12.

According to arrest documents, the Metro helicopter was also hit by the laser during the search but was able to pinpoint the area and guide officers to an area behind a home on Cumberland Station Boulevard.

Officers confronted a group of people and Destin Wyndham, 18, of Goodlettsville, reportedly turned over the laser to investigators.
