Gilbert neighborhood fights town for its trees

For many residents in Gilbert’s College Park Country Estates community, the trees around their homes are a part of the neighborhood’s identity.

It was for the same reason that a number of neighbors banded together at a council meeting earlier this month to protest the town’s plan to cut them down.

According to Brendyn Wood, a life-long resident of the neighborhood, Gilbert’s Streets Department informed only five of the 55 College Park homeowners about removing nine eucalyptus trees along Riata Street and Country Plaza…
