Mercedes, TX Man Arrested at Progreso Port of Entry on Felony Child Indecency Charge

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Progreso Port of Entry made an arrest last Friday evening of a Texas man wanted on a felony charge for indecency with a child. As reported by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the suspect, a Mercedes, TX resident, Adrian De la Fuente, was apprehended after he was found to have an outstanding warrant for sexual contact with a minor.

A routine screening turned critical when De la Fuente, a 43-year-old U.S. citizen, was referred to secondary inspection upon his return from Mexico. Entering the United States at the Progreso International Bridge, the CBP officers conducted a more in-depth examination using federal databases, which flagged the warrant issued by Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office. “CBP officers continue to work diligently to screen and identify all travelers entering the United States to keep our country safe,” Port Director Walter Weaver said in a statement obtained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. “Arrests of this magnitude illustrate the importance of the collaboration between CBP and local law enforcement agencies in safeguarding our communities and ensuring justice is upheld.”
