State Route 36 Reopens to One-Way Traffic Following Slide; Expect Delays

State Route 36 west of Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park has reopened to one-way traffic this morning after a slide closed the highway yesterday. Travelers should expect delays of up to 20 minutes as crews continue to clear debris and shore up the area, according to Caltrans District 1.

The slide, which occurred late Monday afternoon, initially blocked both lanes of the highway. Debris fell from the bluffs around 5:44 p.m., with power lines sparking nearby, creating an additional hazard.

Caltrans reports that monitors are now in place to ensure safe passage while crews work to stabilize the slope. The highway’s status remains subject to change depending on conditions, and motorists are urged to exercise caution when traveling through the area.

For real-time updates, travelers can consult the Caltrans QuickMap website or app…
