ANKENY, Iowa — The city of Ankeny has a new mayor.
City council members voted Monday night to appoint long-time council member Bobbi Bentz to the position. At the same meeting, she was sworn in as mayor.

Mayor Bentz takes over for Mark Holm who resigned after winning the election for Polk County Supervisor.
“It’s an honor to serve as Mayor of my hometown,” said Mayor Bentz. “After serving 12 years as a council member with the last two as Mayor Pro-Tem, I have gained a deep understanding of our community’s needs and opportunities. I am excited to bring that experience to this new role.”
