Downtown Boca Raton could be getting a major makeover

BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — Part of Downtown Boca Raton is set for a hefty glow-up, encompassing 30 acres of land that includes city hall, the police station, the Boca Raton Tennis Center and the Brightline Station.

While it’s still in the very early days in the proposal process, Boca Raton officials confirmed to CBS12 News that the city has received two unsolicited plans to rejuvenate that section of downtown.

“Residents are looking for invigoration,” Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer told CBS12 News Tuesday. “We have a city hall and a community center that date back to the 1960’s and are not big enough for our needs, but rather than just create buildings that close at 5 o’clock and aren’t open on the weekend, we can revitalize this downtown space, take advantage of the Brightline and create an attraction for all residents.”…
