Teachers union supports new law limiting classroom heat

PHILADELPHIA, New York (WWNY) – The union representing public school teachers is applauding a new law that limits how hot a classroom can get. The New York State United Teachers, better known as NYSUT, is happy with the news.

“It’s something that we have been pushing for for over 7 years. We are super excited that the governor signed it and we are looking forward to working with districts to make sure that it is implemented,” said Miranda Person, NYSUT president.

The law says that if the temperature gets above 82 degrees, schools have to cool the classrooms by shutting off lights or putting shades down on windows…
