The Illini West boys were looking to bounce back from a home loss to Macomb with a road victory at Mercer County on Saturday, Dec. 14, and they accomplished it with a 48-36 win.
Wesley Robertson led Illini West with nine points in the opening quarter. Tre Neiderman had three points. Ethan Carlisle and Brennan Grotts each scored a hoop. Carson Boelens, Brady McPeek, and JJ Smock scored a basket each for Mercer County.
The Golden Eagles would edge the Chargers 12-11 in the second quarter but trailed 27-18 at the half. Smock had five points. McPeak and Boelens each popped a three-pointer.
