Southern California city nearly sets winter hot weather temperature record at 84 degrees

Burbank sizzled at a near-record 84°F today as warm, gusty winds swept across Southwest California. This unseasonable heat, driven by offshore winds gusting up to 70 mph in some areas, pushed temperatures 12-15°F above normal, with Los Angeles and Ventura counties seeing highs in the mid-70s to mid-80s.

The National Weather Service downgraded High Wind Warnings to Wind Advisories but warned of elevated fire danger due to low humidity and strong winds. Cooler weather is expected this weekend, with temperatures dropping 4-8°F by Friday as offshore winds weaken.
