FTC bans burying ‘junk fees’ in hotel and ticket costs

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – We’ve all been in situations trying to purchase concert tickets or snag a hotel deal online, only to be met by surprise fees at check out.

It’s that upsetting surprise that the Federal Trade Commission is aiming to put an end to with its latest rule.

The “Junk Fee Rule” will address what the FTC calls bait-and-switch advertising practices. The commission claims it will “ensure that pricing information is presented in a timely, transparent, and truthful way to consumers.”…
