EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced there are temporary restrictions to the speed limit on several roads as snow continues to fall across northeastern Pennsylvania.
PennDOT is urging drivers to avoid unnecessary travel, but if they have to head out, speeds will be reduced to 45 miles per hour on the following roadways:
- Interstate 81 from Schuylkill County to the New York Line in Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Susquehanna counties.
- Interstate 81 from Schuylkill County to Interstate 80 in Luzerne County.
- Interstate 84 in Lackawanna, Pike, and Wayne counties.
- Interstate 380 in Lackawanna and Wayne counties.
On roads with speed restrictions, commercial vehicles not affected by the restrictions on the listed roads and other areas must move to the right lane.
While PennDOT crews have been working to treat the roadways, their priority is to keep the roads passable, not completely free of snow and ice…
