Slocomb woman accused of dismembering lover with chainsaw wants second chance at freedom

SLOCOMB, Ala (WDHN) — A Slocomb woman accused of shooting and dismembering her boyfriend with a chainsaw is asking a Geneva County judge to rethink granting her a chance to make bond, claiming she has a non-violent nature and health issues.

Joselina Elizabeth Lopez is being held without bond in the Geneva County Jail on one count of intentional murder. She is charged in the death of 41-year-old Benito Guzman.

Lopez was denied a chance for bond during an Aniah’s Law hearing in early September, just a few days after her arrest. An Aniah’s Law hearing is used for Alabama judges to hear evidence and gives judges the discretion to deny bond for people accused of violent crimes…
