More Boulder County residents will gain curbside compost collection on Jan. 1

Boulder County residents living north of Nelson Road and east of the foothills will get access to compost collection on Jan. 1, after the Boulder County commissioners passed a new rule about it, according to a press release.

Private trash hauling companies that serve northern Boulder County must provide composting service, unlimited recycling and pay-as-you-throw trash service, according to the release. Residents can separate their food scraps and yard trimmings, which will be turned into compost, the release said.

The expansion of this service comes from an update to the county’s mandated Waste Hauler Ordinance Regions map, which divides the county into service areas for waste collection based on geography and population density…
