WVU set to hire (at least) two assistants from Jacksonville State

West Virginia University’s football coaching staff is starting to take shape. Days after Rich Rodriguez informed the previous staff that he would not be retaining anyone but Blaine Stewart, 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reports that Jacksonville State assistant coaches Ryan Garrett and Michael Nysewander will be coming to Morgantown.

Garrett coached outside receivers for Jax State, while Nysewander was in charge of tight ends and inside receivers. Of course, Stewart coached tight ends for West Virginia this past season, and he coached receivers when working with the Pittsburgh Steelers. As we reported earlier in the week, it was unclear if he would be retaining the same position if he were to accept Rodriguez’s offer.

Garrett has been with Rodriguez since he began his coaching career. He was a student assistant under Rodriguez when Rodriguez was an offensive coordinator at Ole Miss. He then took a year to coach receivers at West Virginia State, but linked back up with Rodriguez at Louisiana-Monroe and then followed him to Jacksonville State…
