Denver Honors Lost Lives with 35th Annual Homeless Persons’ Memorial Vigil

Denver’s community members are set to gather for the “We Will Remember: Homeless Persons’ Memorial Vigil” this Thursday evening. The event, which marks its thirty-fifth year, is organized by the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, paying respect to the individuals who succumbed to life on the streets in the Denver metropolitan area throughout 2024.

Set to be held in front of the Denver City and County Building steps, the public is invited to join the remembrance from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. A decrease from 311 in the previous period, luminaries will be lit to honor each of the at least 294 individuals who have died between November 1, 2023, and October 31, 2024, surrounding the area open from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The vigil will feature performances by the Denver Chorale and speeches, including eulogy orator Randle Loeb. Commencing at 4:30 PM, names of the deceased will be read aloud by various service provider organizations. Participants are encouraged to contribute to a collection drive for new winterwear, such as adult coats, socks, gloves or other new winterwear donations to help those currently struggling with homelessness…
