As the holiday season winds down, residents of Newton County have a chance to give their Christmas trees a second life. From Thursday to January 4, excluding New Year’s Day and the Sunday after Christmas, the local initiative ‘Bring One for the Chipper’ will be in full swing, allowing individuals to recycle their live Christmas trees. According to Newton County’s official announcement, trees can be dropped off at the Cook Road Convenience Center located at 10 Cook Road during specified times.
The program urges residents to bring trees that are free of decorations, tinsel, and not bound by any materials, for ease of processing into mulch and other landscaping products. In a statement obtained by Newton County, citizens are invited to participate during the allotted times which are Thursday to Saturday and Monday to Tuesday from 12 to 7 p.m., and on the final Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s worth noting, the site will be closed on the Sunday following Christmas, and on New Year’s Day.
