DC magnet fishers find possible grenade on Potomac River

WASHINGTON — Two D.C. magnet fishermen told WUSA9 they got quite the catch Sunday. During a haul, the magnet fishers reeled in a bucket with what authorities told WUSA9 was an inactive hand grenade inside.

Homeland Security, U.S. Park Police and the Metropolitan Police Department were called to the scene.

Kevin Sutliff and Ian White have been dropping magnets in DMV waters for about four years, seeing what they can find. On Sunday the two were casting from from the Theodore Roosevelt pedestrian bridge, which connects Washington D.C. with Arlington, Virginia, when they found what appeared to be a deadly catch…
