Los Angeles police help with arrest in fatal stabbing in Stamford from 2023, police say

STAMFORD, Conn. — Police made an arrest after a fatal stabbing in Stamford on Christmas in 2023, according to a release Sunday.

Officers held Juan Camilo Avila-Olmos, 28, as a fugitive from justice under an arrest warrant from the Stamford Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation for the murder of Juan David Hernandez-Velasco. Police took him into custody in Los Angeles and he is currently undergoing an extradition process.
