AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) — Travoris Hawkins is turning his passion for filmmaking into a legacy. Known for his work as a cinematographer and photographer, he’s collaborated with big names like JPMorgan Chase, Pepsi, and Usher. “Being seen on a national scale and to have someone on that level to say, ‘Hey, I’ve never received this before,’ yeah, it reassured me that, ‘Hey, you’re doing something,’” he said.
His journey started in music. While working in R&B and hip-hop, he picked up a camera, quickly realizing it could lead to a thriving business. “I made my first $50, and I just felt like I had made it because I actually did it, doing something that I love, you know. And that’s something that I like to preach as well,” Hawkins shared.
But filmmaking wasn’t always his path. Before founding Scholar Films, he worked a corporate job but wasn’t fulfilled. So, he left and started teaching at Glenn Hills Middle School. “Mr. Al Young took me up under his wing, and when he did, he showed me some things in film and photography that I could have never dreamed of.”…
