Organization helps incarcerated parents give Christmas gifts to their kids

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – About 30 years ago, two chaplains ministering in the Dauphin County prison met and realized incarcerated moms needed help giving gifts to their kids. That’s how the Angel Tree Ministry started.

“This means a lot to me. It really touches my heart that they’re away from the children, but we’re able to help them still provide a gift for their children,” said community member Penny Hariston.

The Society of Volunteer Women Ministries makes sure kids with parents who are incarcerated don’t miss out on the holiday cheer…
