Jewish Federation plans to build ‘gathering space’ on Mandel campus in Palm Beach Gardens

PALM BEACH GARDENS — The Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County wants to build a “gathering space” in Palm Beach Gardens to meet the needs of the area’s growing Jewish population.

The proposed 19,000 square-foot building would be called The Exter Center and sit on the 15-acre campus of the federation’s Mandel Jewish Community Center campus on Hood Road west of Central Boulevard.

“We want to create welcoming spaces where people can gather, connect with each other and engage more in a meaningful Jewish experience,” said Michael Hoffman, the federation’s chief executive officer. “It’s creating an epicenter of Jewish life.”…
