Cities and villages on the Illinois side of the Quad-Cities are partnering to update special legal zones that offer development incentives.
Moline, East Moline, Rock Island, Silvis, Milan and Rock Island County all participate in the Illinois Quad City Enterprise Zone.
Enterprise zones are designated by the state, in collaboration with local governments, to help stimulate economic growth. They offer tax incentives, including a sales tax deduction, utility tax exemption and manufacturing machinery and equipment sales exemptions.
According to the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity website, there are over 100 different enterprise zones throughout the state as of January 2022. In the immediate area there are enterprise zones in Rock Island County, Henry County, Whiteside County and Carroll County.
