AURORA, Colo. — A man is in custody in connection to an overnight fire at the Abrigo apartment building near Peoria Street and East 30th Avenue in Aurora, according to Aurora Fire Rescue.
Paul Daniel Clark, a resident of the unit that had the fire, evacuated the building before crews arrived and was initially transported to a hospital with minor injuries, the organization said. Later, AFR investigators determined the fire was intentionally set by Clark.
After being released from the hospital, Clark was arrested on charges of:
- First-degree arson
- Fourth-degree arson for endangering life
- Fourth-degree arson of a residence causing $100,000-$1 million damages
According to Aurora Fire Rescue, the fire happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning. Flames were visible from a couple miles away as fire crews approached the apartment building. When crews arrived, flames and black smoke were visible on the east side of the apartment building, the agency said…
