A 21-year-old West Palm Beach man is now facing a slew of felony charges after a Saturday afternoon incident that involved reckless driving, nearly hitting a pedestrian, narrowly avoiding an officer on foot, and ultimately crashing into two police vehicles. WPTV reported that the events unfolded after the suspect ran a stop sign, prompting an immediate response from West Palm Beach Police Department.
After stopping his Nissan Altima, the driver, identified as Jailen Tyree Lewis, admitted, as reported by WPTV, to not having a license, and a gun was seen in his waistband by police as he fidgeted. In the ensuing conflict, Lewis refused to exit his vehicle, slamming the car door and almost hit an arriving officer by accelerating away from the scene.
Lewis collided with a patrol car, and then not satisfied with leaving one set of skid marks, he crashed into another parked police vehicle before fleeing north on Spruce Avenue.
