Eddie Swell Comes to California

  • Eddie Swell peaks Tuesday on the West Coast
  • Fog issues continue through the holidays
  • More solid to large swell due after Christmas, dicey conditions

Believe it or not, the storm that delivered massive Sunday surf to The Eddie and Jaws was even better aimed at the US West Coast. This hard-to-comprehend storm produced 66-foot seas a few days ago, with a 25-second-plus swell moving into California waters on Monday. Amazingly, the Pt Reyes buoy clocked 23 feet at 22 seconds this morning, a larger reading than anything we saw on the Hawaiian buoys over the weekend.

With 60-foot tow sets unloading at Mavericks this afternoon, the extra-large WNW-NW swell will work its way down the coast to start the week only to see the North Pacific reload with more rounds on the way after Christmas and into the New Year. Are you ready for more?
