Jimmy Buffet-themed cruise ‘Margaritaville at Sea’ settles third passenger’s rape lawsuit

WEST PALM BEACH — With another secret settlement agreement underway, a Jimmy Buffett-themed cruise line is poised to squash the last of three lawsuits filed by women who said they were raped after setting sail from the Port of Palm Beach.

A Missouri woman agreed to drop her lawsuit against Margaritaville At Sea Paradise in exchange for an undisclosed amount of money, according to a Monday, Dec. 23, filing by her attorney, Luis Perez. Perez did not specify the terms of the settlement but told U.S. District Judge Robin Rosenberg his client intends to dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice, meaning she cannot file it again.

The woman, identified in court records only as Jane Doe, said she was attacked last year in the seaside hotel where Margaritaville arranged for passengers to stay during an overnight trip to Grand Bahama island.
