Fred M. Brown

Fred M. Brown, longtime Cleveland resident, passed away on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Johnson City on Jan. 26, 1935. Fred graduated from Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. Upon graduation, he received his commission and entered the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. Leaving the army, Fred followed his lifelong passion of golf. He joined the PGA and was club professional at Morristown Country Club and Ridgefield Country Club, in Kingsport.

Fred relocated to Cleveland in 1976, as vice president and plant manager of A.R.Knits. After retiring, he returned to golf as assistant pro at Cleveland Country Club, as well as teaching at Flagstone and Ridgewood Golf Club…
