DTE Energy to Spend $100 Million on Metro Detroit Substations to Combat Outages

METRO DETROIT, Nov. 19, 2024 ~ DTE Energy announced that $100 million is being invested into three new substations in metro Detroit as the company works to reduce the frequency and duration of power outages.

The new substations will be in Northville Township, Pontiac, and Shelby Township and will have smart grid technology to reduce the amount of power outages residents face. The technology will allow the company to monitor the grid from its downtown Detroit headquarters and automatically adjust the power supply to meet demand or re-route power.
