The envelope said, “Season for Caring from Austin’s Santa workshop outpost!”
Inside was a letter from Tammis Kennedy: “I believe every little girl should get a new doll at Christmas who wants one. A doll can be a magical gift that opens up new possibilities for the child. Through a doll, a child lives an imaginary life, they heal and help children who hurt.”
Kennedy for years gave new Barbies to the Blue Santa charity. In fact, they called her “our Barbie Lady.” She began a Barbie charity to give about 100 new dolls each season with a wardrobe, a comb, a stand and other signature features. And her Barbies reflect the diversity of Austin: African American Barbies, Latina Barbies, Asian Barbies, Middle Eastern Barbies, etc…
