With the new Sesshion Art Gallery in Encinitas, gallerist and artist Stephanie Bell May has created what she hopes is a “transformative art experience,” not just another art gallery but a cultural hub where creativity, connection and inspiration can thrive through artist talks, art forums, hands-on workshops and community events.
“I’m doing the gallery that I always wanted to have, the art gallery that I always wanted to represent me, the one that gives artists a voice, is welcoming to all people and the one that can provide art education to the community,” Bell May said of the new space on Second Street in Encinitas.
Bell May said many times art galleries can feel rather cold, only welcoming to buyers and serving as a kind of gatekeeper of the art world. She feels it’s important to have a more collaborative space where people get to meet the artists, understand what art is about and what inspires them, and bring the art to as many people as possible…
