In a significant statewide operation conducted ahead of the holidays, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) orchestrated a crackdown on retail theft, resulting in over a hundred arrests. The sweep, named Operation Holiday Watch, focused on reducing the rampant instances of organized retail crime that spiked during the holiday shopping frenzy. Highlighting the operation’s outcome, the official statement reveals Operation Holiday Watch’s key results: 117 arrests for offenses including organized retail theft, and the recovery of stolen goods valued in excess of $38,000. Among the recovered items were clothing, shoes, and fragrances. The joint effort spanned 10 California law enforcement agencies and included the participation of 56 retail partners aiming to bolster in-store security and reporting measures.
