As we get into the holiday, folks everywhere deserve a meal that warms the belly, and Mid-Columbia Meals On Wheels aims to get it done. On Tuesday, they fed dozens at their dining sites, but because of Christmas, their dining sites will be closed tomorrow. However, they don’t plan on leaving anyone hanging. They’re serving folks extra meals to make at home.
“What we are doing is much more than just delivering a nutritious meal,” said Natalie Huggins, the Volunteer Program Manager with Meals on Wheels. “These volunteers are helping to end social isolation and also performing a well check. They come to one of those eight dining sites for a midday meal Monday through Friday. They make such good friends with the other diners. They bond with our volunteers that serve them and our site managers and they say this is wonderful. I have a reason to get out of bed, a place to go, and people that want to see me…
