Less than one week after the Chicago Bears’ third straight loss by double digits , the team is back in action at home the day after Christmas. Although the Bears will not lead off the week’s action thanks to some special edition Christmas Day games on Netflix, the habitual Thursday night matchup has the chance to be a good one.
Before looking ahead, we must look back. Sunday was dreadful. Chants in favor of the Detroit Lions had the volume to drown out the Soldier Field faithful, Ben Johnson was toying with the Bears by drawing up plays that forced Jared Goff to look like he was tripping only to throw a touchdown, and the Bears defense was gashed by half the rushing attack the Lions habitually trot out. Despite all the bad, Caleb Williams had his best game statistically since Thomas Brown took over as interim head coach.
Ben Johnson had a front row seat to Williams’ potential, and perhaps that will be helpful upon the end of the regular season. For now, the Bears turn their focus to the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football…
