BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Christmas City is alive with the sights and sounds of people preparing for the holiday.
Behind all the fine dining, festive decor and shopping, there’s a deep history, and the Historic Hotel Bethlehem’s sign helps tell the tale every Christmas Eve.
“We’re honoring the reason for the season, and we’re also honoring the Moravian settlement and the naming of Bethlehem here on Christmas Eve,” said Bruce Haynes, managing partner of the Historic Hotel Bethlehem.
How can a sign do all that? Well, Haynes says it’s all about what shines. On Christmas Eve, it’s no longer the hotel, just Bethlehem.
“The cool thing for me is I go to my family, my wife, Joanne, and I go to the Christmas Eve service at Central Moravian Church,” said Haynes. “Then you walk out, and you just look up and you just see Bethlehem. All the commercialization of Christmas kind of goes away.”…
