Hidden Valley Park expansion set in motion

Last week, the Hanford City Council discussed options for expanding Hidden Valley Park, a project that has been on the city’s radar for many years, and awarded a contract for the expansion project’s environmental studies.

While the only official decision made was to begin the environmental studies, it was determined that the future of the park should be simple and feature interesting walking trails and open, green spaces.

Parks and Community Services Director Brad Albert led the discussion about the potential phasing of the expansion project and possible funding sources to complete it. He said the first steps needed to initiate the project were to rezone the 18 acres adjacent to the existing park and conduct the required environmental studies to evaluate the project’s potential impacts.
