Palm Beach Gardens (CBS12 News) — The professional golf season is about to start, with the Cognizant Classic next month at PGA National. But on Tuesday night golf and saw the sport like they’ve never seen it before in Palm Beach Gardens, with the inaugural TGL teeing off at the state of the art SOFI Center.
It took an extra year to get ready than expected, because of a storm that destroyed the SoFi Center roof during construction, but great things come to those who wait. The TGL, spearheaded by the great Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, features star power and unprecedented technology. The first of 15 matches tees off on Monday with the New York Golf Club and the Bay Golf Club going head to head.
The 250,000 square-foot facility has a 64 x 53‘ technologically infused screen that the golfers will be hitting the balls into. It’s able to calculate the location and distance that would’ve come out of the shot.
