YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Youngstown’s third ward councilwoman is tossing her name into the race for mayor, seeking the Democratic nomination for the seat in the upcoming May primary.

Turner made the announcement Tuesday in a press conference at Covelli Center in Youngstown.
She’s been on council for five years and feels like the time is right. Turner says she’ll be taking a tough stance on crime in her campaign and says she feels like she can help rebuild trust between the community and its government.
“I’ve learned so much over these last several years that I feel like the time is now,” she said. “When I look at how things are done, I feel like I can contribute at a higher level in a higher seat.”…
