Fort Worth, TxDOT treat thousands of road miles ahead of expected winter storm

In anticipation of the winter precipitation expected later this week, city and state officials have pretreated thousands of miles of roads in and around Fort Worth.

The city’s transportation and public works department began treating roads with a salt water brine Jan. 6, and will continue doing so through Jan. 8, department spokesperson Lara Ingram said. City staff have been pretreating roads as of Jan. 7, with priority areas including bridges, hospital entrances, intersections and arterials, “critical” hills and the areas around emergency overflow shelters, she said. She was not able to immediately provide an estimate of how many miles of roads the city has treated.
