The Point: Jonathan saved a life by springing into action to perform CPR
Not all heroes wear capes… An Allied Universal security guard at the Jurupa Valley/ Pedley Metrolink Station performed one of the greatest feats in the world by springing into action and saving a life. Jonathan was working the morning shift on November 18, helping passengers and patrolling the station, when he noticed a woman walking on the train tracks. Jonathan’s swift and decisive actions had a profound impact as he immediately called the train dispatchers to report a person on the tracks. Jonathan asked the woman if she was okay and needed medical attention.
After persuading the woman to walk towards the platform, she laid on the platform. At one point, the woman became unresponsive, and Jonathan noticed that she was not breathing. Jonathan immediately called 911 and started chest compressions. After about two minutes of performing CPR, the woman began breathing again. Jonathan stayed with the woman until paramedics arrived and rushed her to the hospital. During this ordeal, Jonathan followed all safety protocols by calling dispatch, ensuring the area was safe, and monitoring the individual. Thanks to Jonathan’s quick thinking and heroic actions, a family was reunited before the holiday season.
“Our Metrolink stations are full of activity – thankfully guardian angels like Jonathan are looking out for our safety and stepping up,” said RCTC Chair and Riverside County Second District Supervisor Karen Spiegel. “Jonathan was called to duty and without hesitation, he saved a life. We thank Jonathan for his heroic efforts and for being an outstanding, selfless, and caring individual.”…
