SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (WRGB) — Schenectady High School’s recent implementation of AI-powered weapons detectors has sparked concerns among parents, particularly due to the winter weather and apparent delays in the security screening process.
Parents called CBS6 to say that students have been forced to wait outside in the cold for extended periods, as the new system has slowed entry into the building. One concerned parent, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed worries about the impact on students’ attendance and academic performance.
“Even though they know what’s going on, they’re still marking kids absent. Kids are still getting jammed up. There has to be a better way,” the parent said. “If they would’ve made a dry run at the beginning of the school year just to see how these systems work, we could’ve put together a better system.”…
