LIST: Central Va. schools closed, delayed Thursday due to winter weather, water crisis

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — As both icy conditions and the effects of Richmond’s water crisis continue to impact Central Virginians, some local school districts are choosing to close or delay their openings on Thursday.

The following schools and school divisions will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 9:

  • Albemarle County Public Schools
    • 12-month employees are to report at 10 a.m.
  • Amelia County Public Schools
    • 12-month employees are to report at 10:30 a.m.
  • Caroline County Public Schools
  • Cumberland County Public Schools
  • Essex County Public Schools
    • Staff are to report at 10 a.m.
  • Fluvanna County Public Schools
  • Hanover County Public Schools
  • Henrico County Public Schools
    • 12-month employees should work remotely and all central-based and site-based facilities staff should report to work.
  • King William County Public Schools
    • Staff are to report at 10 a.m.
  • Louisa County Public Schools
  • Orchard House Middle School in Richmond
  • Powhatan County Public Schools
  • Richmond City Public Schools
  • Richmond Waldorf School
  • Sabot School in Richmond

The following schools and school divisions will open two hours late on Thursday:

  • Charles City County Public Schools
  • Chesterfield County Public Schools
    • All staff except those at Jacobs Road Elementary should report at regular time.
    • Jacobs Road Elementary is closed due to heating issues .
  • Goochland County Public Schools
  • King and Queen County Public Schools
  • Northumberland County Public Schools
  • Prince Edward County Public Schools
  • Richmond County Public Schools
