LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – As Arkansas prepares for potential winter weather this week, the Arkansas Department of Transportation is also preparing roads for travelers.
If you haven’t noticed already, trucks have been out in full force Wednesday and will continue to be all day Thursday and Thursday night.

They’ll hit the primary roads first and the bridges and overpasses, the usual trouble spots.
According to the department, the state starts each year with a stockpile of 85,000 cubic yards of salt, distributed between more than 114 salt houses across the state where they make the salt brine mixture. By putting it down now, it lowers the freezing temperatures on the roads so it’s harder for whatever falls from the sky to bond into the roadway…
