MoDOT continues to work around the clock ahead of next winter storm

ST. LOUIS—Wednesday’s sun helped melt packed snow and ice on area roads, but as temperatures plummet this evening, there is a potential for refreeze on the roads.

MoDOT’s Traveler’s Information Map shows most of the state’s St. Louis routes are still snow covered, the agency told Spectrum News the interstates and most ramps are in good shape and that the sun really helped their crews’ progress Wednesday. MoDOT cameras show pavement on most views.

Bob Becker, MoDOT St. Louis District Maintenance Engineer, said the biggest challenge for his road crews are removing the hard packed snow. He explains it takes a lot more chemicals and time to remove it…
