Focus at Four: A&M dentistry expert talks recent survey linking fluoride, intelligence

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A water additive is being questioned for its long-term effects on children’s intellectual capacity after a survey was released. However, a tenured dentistry expert at Texas A&M says this report may not show the whole picture accurately.

Fluoride is a mineral found in rocks, soil, and water. It helps protect tooth enamel, which is why many cities have added it to treated drinking water for more than 70 years. There has, however, been a growing opposition to the practice as of late.
