WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) – January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. The Texas Department of Public Safety and experts are reminding Texans to be aware of their surroundings and to educate themselves about the dangers of human trafficking.
According to Waco nonprofit Unbound Now , human trafficking is defined as when anyone is tricked, forced or coerced into providing labor or sexual service for someone else’s financial gain. The organization says traffickers tend to prey on the vulnerabilities of high risk populations like those experiencing poverty or kids.
