Quiet weather brings sunshine to Northern Michigan before snow returns Friday

Quiet weather (and hopefully some sunshine) Thursday before another front arrives Friday with a round of light snow. Another clipper sweeps in later Sunday into next Monday with another round of snow.

THURSDAY (JAN 9): Thursday will be the “quietest” day of the forecast with partly cloudy skies expected for most of Northern Michigan. This will also be the day with the best potential for some sunshine that we’ve had in some time if one can get away from the lake effect clouds in spots. There could be a little snow however along US-2 in Mackinac County as a south wind will push some lake effect snow onshore there but nothing too noteworthy. Daytime high temperatures will reach between 20-20F. South to SW wind 5-15 mph.

FRIDAY (JAN 10): Low pressure will pass north of the region and drag a frontal boundary across Northern Michigan bringing back clouds and a round of light snow. Plan on off/on snow Friday with total accumulation across our region in the 1-3″ range by sunset Friday. Daytime high temperatures will reach 28-33F. SW to NW wind 10-15 mph…
