WORCESTER ― No, that is not a misprint on one of Worcester’s newest snowplows. If you are braving the elements to drive in the city during a snowstorm, you may see something that forces a double-take, but the truth is that yes, that snowplow is actually called Snow More Mr. Ice Guy.
Worcester announced the four winners of its “name a snowplow” contest on Wednesday, just in time for some potential snowfall this weekend. The contest asked Worcester Public School classes to come up with names, also involving puns, for the four new snowplows purchased by the city this winter season.
The winning names are as follows:
- Scoop Dogg (Stephanie Trainor’s grade six class, Francis J. McGrath Elementary School)
- Sleetwood Mac (Victoria Alexander’s Grades K-2 SAIL class, Norrback Avenue School)
- William Scrapespeare (Aimee Kewley’s Grades 9-12 theater magnet class, Burncoat High School)
- Snow More Mr. Ice Guy (Sydney Lamothe’s grades 9-10 advisory class, University Park Campus School)
The idea was taken from other institutions, such as the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, which has held a contest for the past several years (some of this year’s winners included Taylor Drift and C-3P Snow)…
