Report: SCI boss has a secret life in Washington

The State Commission of Investigation used to cause some of the toughest people in New Jersey to experience a painful tightening of the sphincter, but an explosive Asbury Park Press story today raises serious questions about the agency’s credibility and gravitas moving forward.

The report alleges that the new SCI executive director, Rev. Tiffany Williams Brewer, appears to have two issues: a claim that she lives in Maryland, where she purchased a $660,000, five-bedroom home in Prince George’s County in March; and records that indicate she has a second full-time job as a tenure track law professor at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Brewer was chair of the watchdog agency formed to investigate “waste, fraud, and abuse” in state government but assumed the $175,000-per-year full-time executive director post after Chadd Lackey was killed in an automobile crash in July…
