Abandoned home in Charleston catches fire

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Crews responded to a fire at a home in Charleston early Thursday morning, and the smoke and flames could be seen from across the river.

According to Kanawha County Metro 911, the fire broke out at a home in the 400 block of Mary Street around 4:30 a.m. Thursday. The Charleston Fire Department says the home was abandoned and is considered a total loss.

The smoke and flames were visible from one of the Stormtracker 13 Weather Camera Network cameras over the city.

The CFD says they searched the home and found that it was vacant. No one was injured and no neighboring homes were damaged. There is no word on the cause of the fire at this time…
